Jesse Ventura is a renaissance man, a jack-of-all-trades, a man who can do nearly everything and anything. He has been a Navy S.E.A.L, a professional actor, a professional wrestler, Radio talk show host, NFL commentator, and governor of Minnesota. In addition to saying whatever he wants, no matter whom it would offend, Jesse Ventura, like many Daily Heroes, is a total badass.

Most of you readers have seen the seminal 1987 film “Predator” starring The Body and fellow Governor of Cal-ee-forn-yuh Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Who could have possibly predicted that two baddasses of the screen could have so seamlessly transitioned into politics like they have? Jesse also starred in such titles as “Abraxas, Guardian of the Universe,” “Tag Team,” and “Ricochet.” His best work has been in another Arnold film, “The Running Man,” where he played Captain Freedom.

It’s rumored that he used his real hair in that film.

Honorable mention for Jesse’s film work goes to “Demolition Man,” the Taco Bell/Pizza Hut film where Sylvester Stallone and Wesley Snipes fight each other in a future where the government controls everything and you can’t swear. Jesse played a frozen convict. He trained for the part for three weeks, standing as still as he possibly could.

Although Jesse had a long an interesting wrasslin’ career, it wasn’t nearly as awesome as his career as governor of Minnesota. Check out some of these choice quotes:

*”If you are smart enough to go to college, you are smart enough to figure out a way to pay for it.”

*”Organized religion is a sham and a crutch for weak-minded people who need strength in numbers. It tells people to go out and stick their noses in other people’s business.”

*”I believe patriotism comes from the heart. Patriotism is voluntary. It is a feeling of loyalty and allegiance that is the result of knowledge and belief. A patriot shows their patriotism through their actions, by their choice. No law will make a citizen a patriot.”

*”Until you hunted man, you haven’t hunted yet.”

*”I asked Dalai Lama the most important question that I think you could ask - if he had ever seen Caddyshack.”

*”If you were to come to Minnesota, I could have you locked up like that. That’s power.”

You think he’s joking? Obviously not. Jesse Ventura was a breath of fresh air when he came into politics, because he doesn’t care what you have to say. He wasn’t interested in a government that picked and prodded into your personal life, and he didn’t think that it was the governments job to enforce morality on each individual.

Jesse, weather you want to be called “The Body,” “The Brain,” or Blain like in Predator, you are today’s Daily Hero and you deserve it.
